My personal favorite arrangement

I made this arrangement at Shreiner's Iris Gardens in Salem, Oregon, in 2019. I traveled to the gardens for a flower workshop led by Nicolette of Brooklyn's Little Flower School. Mentally, I return to this arrangement time and time again. The experience itself was incredibly short (just one afternoon) and I remember leaving this day wanting to do more and wishing that mine was better, that it had more space to let each stem breath and shine. Even though I'm an amateur, I tend to take my practice pretty seriously! Now looking back at it, I'm amazing she's the result of my eyes and hands! The learnings I took in and applied in that single day make her feel very mature to me. I love the color ombre from purple to orange, as well as subtle moments where single stems do get to have a ~moment~. To my own self-criticizing eye, she could have a little more space throughout, but WOW I wish I could've kept her longer!

Here is my beaut in all her glory. After this photo was snapped, I disassembled her, wrapper in newspaper, and traveled with her as my carry on to fly back to San Francisco!

In terms of the workspace Nicolette provided us with, I've never had so much variety at my disposal. I was spoiled enough with the San Francisco flower market at home, but this was just buckets and buckets of stems Nicolette picked, and you could do no wrong--each choice was thoughtfully made and any combination would be amazing. Quite the luxury!
